The cost of insomnia or sleeplessness

Do you know what insomnia or sleeplessness can cost you?

According to an article written by Sherrie Bourg Carter, Psy.D. for Psychology Today, the loss/lack and poor quality of sleep can cause:

  1. Accelerated Skin Aging
  2. Brain Damage
  3. Genetic Changes
  4. Increased Risk of Stroke
  5. Decreased Bone Density
  6. Increased Risk of Obesity
  7. Increased Risk for Heart Disease
  8. Increased Risk for Cancer
  9. Forced Early Retirement
  10. Premature Death

The article cited the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reporting that 30% of American workers get less than 6 hours of sleep per night.

A quick search online reveals the World Health Organization warned of a 'sleep loss epidemic' as a growing concern in two-thirds of adults in developing nations.

Sleep deprivation has been associated with immediate, increased risk for industrial accidents, motor vehicle accidents, medical errors, reduced productivity, impaired problem-solving skills, and increased stress, to name only a few.

Researchers have now shown that what we do to our minds and bodies when we skimp on sleep doesn't just impact us in the short term. Indeed, the consequences are long-term—and potentially deadly:

We don’t recognize or admit to it, but getting less shuteye is ruining our health, happiness and prosperity.

If you’re an actively working professional and you get less than 8 hours of sleep per night or the quality of your 8 hours of lying in bed is less than what it should be, maybe this very short video will help.

Emotional Freedom Techniques, a central feature of Energy Psychology, help clear our mind chatter, relax our body and slow down our heart rate. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Give it a try. Who knows, in less than 2 minutes you may get the best sleep you haven't had in a while.

One more hour of sleep can...

  • keep you in the workforce until you are ready to retire.
  • keep you looking and feeling years younger.
  • keep your brain neurons alive and thriving.
  • help you keep your weight down.
  • keep you healthy.
  • ... and hopefully, add years to your life.
